Education Abilene was chartered on August 1, 2000 as the second merged TFT/TSTA local in the state of Texas. Prior to that the Abilene Federation of Teachers was chartered in 1988 and the Abilene Education Association (TSTA) many years before.

Education Abilene represents employees of all classifications and is currently approaching 300 members. EA enjoys a great relationship with the media and the citizens of Abilene and is working this spring on the election of three school board members.
